It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year…. YA Scavenger Hunt is here!

Posted Sep 29 2020, 1:00 am in , , , , , ,

It’s that time again! YA Scavenger Hunt time! If you love YA fiction like I do, you’ll know why I’m singing right now.

It’s also the LAST hunt. That’s right, the amazing coordinators of this amazing blog hop of books and prizes are hanging up their lucky numbers.

I’m ridiculously grateful to founder Colleen Houck and for the entire YASH team for allowing me to have so much fun these many years. I first discovered the hunt when I was a baby author with no books published yet. I spent HOURS following the clues and hopping from blog post to blog post collecting lucky numbers and some amazing authors who were new to me. When I at long last published SEND, my debut novel, I couldn’t wait to participate in the hunt as a writer! I’ve done so many times and with many novels. I’m so grateful to the YASH organizers for all that you’ve done for me.

Welcome to YA Scavenger Hunt! This bi-annual event was first organized by author Colleen Houck as a way to give readers a chance to gain access to exclusive bonus material from their favorite authors…and a chance to win some awesome prizes! At this hunt, you not only get access to exclusive content from each author, you also get a clue for the hunt. Add up the clues, and you can enter for our prize–one lucky winner will receive one book from each author on the hunt in my team! But play fast: this contest (and all the exclusive bonus material) will only be online for 72 hours!

Go to the YA Scavenger Hunt page to find out all about the hunt. There are 3 contests going on simultaneously, and you can enter one or all! I am a part of the BLUE TEAM–but there is also a red team, and a purple team for a chance to win a whole different set of books!

If you’d like to find out more about the hunt, see links to all the authors participating, and see the full list of prizes up for grabs, go to the YA Scavenger Hunt page.

EXCLUSIVE CONTENT

A prophecy…
A new student…
A pot plant growing out of control…

One of these things could save Toby. The trouble is, which one?

When Toby arrived at this school six months ago, learning magic seemed like a dream come true. Now he’ll be happy if he and his classmates just get out of here alive.

With teachers, other students and their own spells against them, will Toby save his friends from the dangers they face? Or is he the one they should really fear?

And now, here’s Helen!

Hi everyone, I hope you’re all having a great time making your way through the maze of authors to find those secret numbers.

I’ve participated in YASH a few times, and each time my friend has helped me make a playlist to go with one of my books. She was very sad to hear this was the last time YASH would be running as we’ve really loved putting together these book soundtracks for you.

This year’s one is for my darkly magical novella, Reactive. Some of these songs are ones I listened to while writing, others are ones we thought fit the story or that the characters might listen to. Whether you’ve read Reactive or not, there’s some great tunes in there, so have a listen as you carry on with the hunt.

As a bonus bonus for the last YASH, if you’d like to check out the previous book soundtracks we made, you can find them here:

  2. Thank you for taking part in YASH. I wish this weren’t the last one.
This book sounds interesting. Evil teachers- ha ha.

You Beneath Your Skin By Damyanti Biswas has been the best book I’ve read in 2020 so far.
I also really enjoyed Van Helsing Academy by Stacey O’Neale and Not Guilty by C. Lee McKenzie.
I’m super excited about the YA query contest Pass or Pages at Operation Awesome this October.

  3. I love this cover! It’s electric.
